Our
dear friend and occasional copy editor, Eric Bernhoft of Upright &
Grand Piano Rolls, served us the weirdest drink recently. Being a fan
of things vintage, he often indulges in a Chocolate Egg Cream. This is
a healthy portion of Fox's U-Bet syrup, an equal amount of milk and seltzer
water, a beverage very popular on the East Coast of the lower 48. To this
he adds an even healthier portion of Wild Turkey bourbon. We made faces.
We snickered. We doubted. But, dear readers, we enjoyed and we know not
why! Perhaps it was the mazurkas on the player piano or perhaps it was
just the magic of the cocktail hour, weaving its naughty spell.
