- 1 part whiskey (we like scotch but you might try Irish or Bourbon instead)
- ¾ to 1 part lemon juice (and if you're using Scotch, you might experiment with limes)
- half part simple syrup or sugar to taste
Shake ingredients in a shaker and then pour into tumblers, ice and all.
Some folks strain this drink. We don't but we won't fault you if you do.
Simple syrup, as you may know, is sugar water. You can make this yourself. If you are using sugar, dissolve in the citrus juice before mixing. Sugar has a difficult time dissolving in cold liquid.
Traditional garnish is a maraschino cherry.
